Is there a book that you can define only in one word? For me, it’s The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and the word that I choose to describe this book is HOPE. Yes, because this wonderful book is about hope and giving me hope.

I didn’t expect that I would love The Alchemist at first because I randomly chose it when I saw the title on Scribd. I heard a lot of praise given to this book but never knew what this book is actually about. So, when I read it and started to grow on the story, I felt unexpectedly happy.

Honestly, I read this when I was in confusion about my life and dream. It’s such a bless to find this book at that moment. The power and heartwarming feelings that this novel gives to me is hard to express in words. Though, I’ll try to express it even if it may sound excessive.

The Alchemist makes me feel as if someone accompanies me walking through a long road. Instead of preaching about what I should do with my life and dream, that person tells me a comforting story. It’s a kind of story that makes me feel less lonely and have more faith to keep dreaming.

I love the concept of universe as a help to reach our dreams, as long as we have a strong desire to make it true. The long journey that the character took implies that nothing is instant, that’s why patience is needed. It’s also important to enjoy what’s around us while we’re going through the process of realizing our hopes.

When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream.
